Liga 1 week 8 summary
By: sasha | September 23rd, 2008Week eight of the Romania’s Liga 1 concluded with Steaua BucureÅŸti and Dinamo BucureÅŸti climbing above Unirea Urziceni who were shocked by Universitatea Craiova. BucureÅŸti were inspired by by Tricolorii Florin Bratu’s two goals after the break and the ‘Câinii RoÅŸii would not let Poli IaÅŸi back in the match with very sound defense. However looming large in the table is TimiÅŸoara who after being hit with a six-point deduction, continue to roll over the opposition. Gheorghe Bucur looked in perfect form adding two goals in the 3-1 victory over Vaslui. Defending champions CFR Cluj finished off a brilliant period that included their victory over Roma in the Champions League and appear to be well adjusted to new manager’s Maurizio Trombetta system and so too will be a force through the balance of the Liga 1 season. The Rapid BucureÅŸti season is quickly falling off-course as Júlio César and Césinha haven’t shown the ability to score sufficiently and it is obvious that José Peseiro must adjust or it will be a disastrous season. One of the other story-lines to consider is the bench strength of Steaua BucureÅŸti, Dinamo BucureÅŸti and CFR Cluj as they adjusted easily to the demands of Champions League / UEFA Cup matches.
