Liga 1 clubs in UEFA Cup

By: sasha | October 1st, 2008

Later today the UEFA Cup continues with four matches including Romanian clubs:

NEC Nijmegen – Dinamo Bucureşti
Liga leaders lost the opening match 1-0 to the Eredivisie but ‘Câinii Roşii have yet to lose at home and only allowed one goal in four matches. Marius Niculae, Florin Bratu and Ionel Dãnciulescu are prepared to push Dinamo to the next round and you can expect the faithful to provide strong support

Hamburg – Unirea Voluntari Urziceni
The opening match was level and Urziceni returns home with a perfect opportunity to advance (preview)

VfL Wolfsburg – Rapid Bucureşti
The Bundesliga club comes to Bucureşti after winning the opening match 1-0. The adjustment to José Peseiro’s system has not been easy for Rapid Bucureşti but I expect them to attack at the German clubs defending weaknesses.

FK Partizan – FC Timişoara
Gheorghe Chivorchian might have the most difficult task of the day as the Alb-Violeţii head into Belgrade behind 2-1 in the aggregate and will now need two away goals.
